This interdisciplinary minor will provide students in any major the opportunity to develop their knowledge of the world and the major contemporary issues confronting humanity. Students in this minor will receive a foundation in global studies and an introduction into the various implications of globalization. By choosing electives across discipline areas, students will gain an interdisciplinary perspective into various global issues.

Lower Division Requirements - 6 units
Upper Division Requirements - 12 units
Twelve units required from a minimum of two discipline areas. Students must choose in which discipline area cross-listed courses will count. Students must choose in which discipline area cross-listed courses will count. For example, SPAN 334 / THTR 334 Spanish Language Drama and Theatre as either English or Spanish area course. Students must receive permission from the program advisor to substitute 490 courses (e.g., special topics) and courses taken during Study Abroad for electives listed below. A single UNIV 392 course may substitute for one elective course, provided it is not used to satisfy the Corequisite Study Abroad Requirement below.

Corequisites - 1-17 units
- Language Requirement - Students need to complete a language other than English through the intermediate level (for example, through SPAN 202 ), or demonstrate equivalent proficiency as approved by the CI Global Languages & Cultures faculty. ASL courses will not be accepted.
- Study Abroad Requirement - Students must successfully complete a minimum of one international study abroad experience (e.g., a CSU International Program, or a study abroad program approved by a Global Studies major advisor). UNIV 392 may be possible in specific circumstances when the longer programs cause a hardship for students; prior approval from the Global Studies major advisor is required.
