The Certificate in Professional Writing is open to all students and a valuable complement to any major. For students who are seeking the BA in English, the 12 units of elective requirements can be double counted towards this certificate.

The Professional Writing Certificate prepares students to do the following:

• Employ best practices in developing oral, written, visual, and multimodal projects for diverse audiences and contexts.
• Integrate user-centered design practices to communicate clearly, effectively, and ethically in multiple modes. 
• Practice digital citizenship and user-centered design in tailoring professional writing projects to diverse settings, including community, civic, and commercial arenas.
• Engage in productive, effective, and equitable collaboration. 
• Pursue employment opportunities entailing professional writing locally, regionally, and nationally.
