Upper Division Requirements - 27 units
Required Courses - 6 units
Discipline Area Electives - 21 units
Twenty-one units required from a minimum of three discipline areas. Students must choose in which discipline area cross-listed courses will count. For example, ENGL 344 / PATH 344 - World Drama and Theatre as either an Art, Communication, and Performing Arts discipline area course, or a Languages and Literatures discipline area course. Students must receive permission from the program advisor to substitute 490 courses (e.g., special topics) and courses taken during Study Abroad for electives listed below. A single UNIV 392 course may substitute for one elective course, provided it is not used to satisfy the Corequisite Study Abroad Requirement below.
Art, Communication, and Performing Arts
Languages and Literatures
Corequisites - 1-19 units
1. Language Requirement – Students need to complete a language other than English through the intermediate level (for example, through SPAN 202 ), or demonstrate equivalent proficiency as approved by the CI Global Languages & Cultures faculty. ASL courses will not be accepted.
2. Study Abroad Requirement - Students must successfully complete a minimum of one international study abroad experience (e.g., a CSU International Program, or a study abroad program approved by a Global Studies major advisor). UNIV 392 may be possible in specific circumstances when the longer programs cause a hardship for students; prior approval from the Global Studies major advisor is required.
