ANTH 236 - Osteology I: The Human Skeleton Units: 3 Three hours lecture per week Introduction to the study of human osteology, which provides the foundation for forensic anthropology, paleoanthropology, and bioarchaeology. Learn to identify human skeletal anatomy by element, know the importance of anatomical features and landmarks, and determine each elements’ placement within human skeletal architecture. Discusses growth, development, and functional morphology of each element. Focuses on adult and subadult human versus non-human bone differentiation, and ethical concerns related to studies of humans remains. Graded: Letter Grade
