The English minor provides non-majors with the opportunity to explore literature and become more involved with the writing process. The English: Literature and Writing minor is an excellent addition to the baccalaureate degree for all majors.

Lower Division Requirements - 6 units

In addition to the courses below, students seeking the English minor must have fulfilled the lower division writing requirement (at CI, ENGL 105 ).

Students select a total of 6 units of lower division coursework.

ENGL 120 - American Literature Units: 3
ENGL 210 - Themes and Theories in World Literature Units: 3
ENGL 220 - Interdisciplinary Approaches to American Literature and Culture Units: 3
ENGL 240 - Literary Genres in Translation Units: 3
ENGL 250 - British and European Literature Units: 3

Upper Division Requirements - 9 units

ENGL 330 - Interdisciplinary Writing Units: 3
Complete 6 units of upper-division electives in ENGL (excluding ENGL 465, ENGL 479, ENGL 498, and ENGL 499).
