To be in compliance with new GE pattern.

We propose 3 additional units of Upper Division Electives under new section titled “Ethnic Studies” to provide students with an opportunity to enroll in a Black Studies, Asian Amerian Studies and Native American and Indigenous Studies course.

Year 1 - 30 units

Fall Junior - 15 units

CHS 331 - Interdisciplinary Writing in Chicana/o Studies Units: 3

Student’s Choice of Major History and Society Course. Units: 3 (HIST 350 meets the US History graduation requirement and CHS 402 meets Upper-Division Subject Area 4 • Social and Behavioral Sciences) CHS 350 is offered every semester. Student’s Choice of Free Elective Course. Units: 3 Needed for 120 Unit Requirement - Can be any class, any major, any level 100-499 that you have not earned previous credit for.

CHS 499 - Community-based Research Capstone in Chicana/o Studies Units: 3
Major requires CHS 492 or 499. CHS 499 is only offered in Spring, if student plans to take CHS 499 in Spring, this section switches to a free elective course
