Recommendations/Notes
- Students who plan to obtain an MA or PhD in Art History should continue foreign language study (French, German, or a language relevant to planned area of specialization).
- Attend study abroad information session.
- Meet with Art History Faculty Advisor to plan next year’s courses.
- Use the summer to get ahead on lower division GE or major requirements or to meet language requirements by taking classes at CI or at a community college.
- Study abroad road maps are provided for study abroad during junior year. Students who wish to study abroad during sophomore year should speak with the Art History advisor to devise a plan to complete lower division coursework prior to departure. Students who wish to study abroad during senior year must read Semester Three notes. Articulation of courses taken abroad within the art history major will be determined by the Art History advisor; students should be prepared to share syllabi and assignments as part of this determination.

- Meet with the Art History Faculty Advisor to discuss internship opportunities; apply to spring/summer programs. If you receive a spring internship, register for ARTH 492: Internship (speak with the Art Program Faculty Advisor).
- The major includes up to 23 open units in Sem. 5-8; consider adding a minor.
- Students who wish to accelerate the program must take ARTH 300 in Semester Four, ARTH 400 in Semester Five, and Capstone in Semester Six. Student who wish to study abroad for all of senior year must follow the accelerated plan; designated study abroad road maps are for junior-year abroad only. Articulation of courses taken abroad within the art history major will be determined by the Art History advisor; students should be prepared to share syllabi and assignments as part of this determination.
