Discipline Area Electives - 21 units
Twenty-one units required from a minimum of three (3) discipline areas. The student must choose into which discipline area a cross-listed course would count (e.g., BUS 448 /ECON 448 /SOC 448 Sociology of Globalization and Development as either a Business and Economics discipline area course, or a Social Sciences discipline area course). Students must receive permission from the program advisor to substitute 490 courses (e.g., special topics) and courses taken during Study Abroad for electives listed below. A single UNIV 392 course may substitute for one elective course, provided it is not used to satisfy the Study Abroad corequisite requirement below.
Art, Communication, and Performing Arts
Co-requisites - 1-19
1. Language Requirement – Students need to complete through the intermediate level (for example, through SPAN 202 ), a language other than English, or demonstrate equivalent proficiency as approved by the CI languages faculty. ASL courses will not be accepted.
2. Study Abroad Requirement – Students must successfully complete a minimum of one international study abroad experience (e.g., UNIV 392 [1-3 units], a CSU International Program, or a study abroad program approved by a Global Studies faculty advisor).
Additional General Education and other Graduation Requirements
To graduate, students must complete 120 units minimum (40 units must be upper division), including the following General Education (GE) and Graduation Requirements :
- Additional lower division GE Area A-E requirements not met within major
- American Institutions Requirement
- Language Requirement (C- or better grade)
- Multicultural Perspectives (MP) Mission Pillar Requirement
- Nine units of Upper Division General Education (UDGE) courses, one each in Areas UDGE-B, UDGE-C, and UDGE-D
- Free electives as needed to meet minimum units for graduation
