AAS 303 - Filipino American Community Units: 3 Three hours lecture per week An examination of the major historical issues and debates surrounding Filipino American communities in the United States. It examines primary and secondary sources that explore the history, culture, and lived experiences of Filipino Americans across different time periods. The course also addresses the politics of representation, changing patterns of race, gender, labor, and community, as well as issues of sexuality, interracial relationships, mixed-race identities, and colorism, analyzing how Filipino Americans have shaped and been shaped by broader U.S. social, political, and cultural dynamics through an interdisciplinary and comparative framework.
