SOC 338 - Come as You Are: Sexual Pleasure and Bodies in Ecstasy

Units: 3
Three hours lecture per week
Prerequisite(s): Successful completion of Golden Four GE Areas (1A, 1B, 1C, 2)
This interdisciplinary course focuses on how human beings come to experience pleasure during sexual experiences, no matter their gender, sex, sexual orientation, or biography. This course draws on biological understandings of anatomy and sexual response cycles, as well as psychological and sociological explanations that center power, social control, deviance, and social institutions to understand when and who experiences sexual pleasure.  This course includes an extensive discussion of orgasm, ejaculation, pornography, sexual fantasy, fetishes, kinks, drugs, pleasure after trauma, and more.
