GERO 503 - Mental Health and Aging

Units: 3
Three hours lecture per week
Prerequisite(s): GERO 500
An exploration of age-related life changes that impact mental health, such as coping with a serious illness or losing a loved one. Study of the variety of mental health-related clinical disorders that impact the aging population disproportionately. This course will also review the basic elements of mental health care for this population, investigate how these conditions impact quality of life, and discuss the current different treatment modalities available.
