CHS 460 - Latina/o Politics

Three hours lecture per week
A critical examination of Latina/o politics in the United States, including both electoral and non-electoral forms of participation, such as social movements, community organizing, labor struggles, and grassroots activism. It explores the historical and contemporary Latina/o struggle against racial, economic, and political domination, with emphasis on the development of political thought, ideology, and public policy. It analyzes the evolution of Latina/o political identities and coalitions and evaluate strategies for achieving equity, representation, and power within U.S. democratic institutions.
