CHS 375 - Afro-Latinidad in the Americas (Cross-listed as BLST 375) Units: 3 Three hours lecture per week Examines the intersections of Blackness and Latinidad(es) throughout the Americas. It explores themes of colonialism, resistance, revolt, migration, solidarity, and cultural production among Afro-Latinas/os/xs in Latin America and the United States. Students analyze how histories of enslavement, racialization, and diaspora have shaped Afro-Latinx identities and examine the cultural, political, and artistic expressions that articulate Black and Latinx experiences of belonging, identity, and resistance.
