ECS 645 - Critical Contemporary Topics in Early Childhood Education Units: 3 Three hours lecture per week Prerequisite(s): Admission to Master of Arts in Early Childhood Studies program Critical trends, topics, and issues being debated within the field of early childhood education. Opportunity to explore and actively engage with a diverse range of contemporary trends, historical origins, persistent issues, research findings, and resulting program developments in early childhood education. Topics examined through multiple theoretical lenses, emphasizing themes related to policy, teacher education, teaching and learning, service learning, families, equity, intersectionality, and advocacy. Possible topics include service-learning, equity, intersectionality, infants/toddlers, advancing the ECE profession, policy, advocacy.
