FIN 201 - Personal Finance

Personal finance is a study of efficient allocation and management of personal financial resources. This course is an elective course open to undergraduate students of all majors. In this course, students will develop financial literacy to be capable of making informed financial decisions. The course will survey fundamentals of budgeting, saving, borrowing, career planning, investing, retirement planning, housing and estate planning, insurance, and taxes, among others. Students will also learn broad economic and financial principles and concepts in the context of personal financial management. Students will come out of the course equipped with necessary financial skills to practice various techniques in personal finance and with confidence based on having control over their own financial future.
