CHS 352 - Aztec Dance and Culture (Cross-listed as PA 352) Units: 3 Two hours lecture and two hours activity per week Prerequisite(s): Any CHS or PA or PADA and Successful completion of Golden Four GE Areas (1A, 1B, 1C, 2) Examines the historical and contemporary cultural practice of Aztec/Mexica dance traditions in Mexico and the United States. Course will survey the fundamental techniques, styles, rhythms, instruments, ritual performance, movements, symbols, and clothing. Course will study Indigenous knowledge and spirituality as it relates to both ritual and social dance practices and will be compared to other Pan-Indigenous groups throughout the western hemisphere.
