COMM 211 - Discerning Information in an Interconnected World (Cross-listed as LIB 211) Units: 3 Three hours lecture per week Provides students with strategies to help them make sense of our information-saturated world. Students should critically assess information; differentiate the perspectives of information seekers from providers; and evaluate our sources of knowledge through issues such as: surveillance, surrogates, privacy, information-seeking behavior, information control, intellectual property, digital democracy, and emerging information communication technologies.
