Lower Division Requirements - 31-33 units


Student must obtain a grade of C- or better in each of these courses to apply them to the Math Major.

Upper Division Elective Requirements - 9 units


Note:

  1. Courses used for the emphasis cannot be counted as electives.
  2. Students planning on teaching math must choose MATH 492 for their field experience requirement. Other courses recommended for teaching careers are marked with a “T”.
  3. Other upper division Computer Science or Physics courses may be substituted with approval of the Mathematics major advisor.

Emphasis in Applied Mathematics - 12 units


An emphasis is required for completion of the B.S. in Mathematics. In order to plan their electives, students should choose their emphasis by the end of their sophomore year. Creating an individualized emphasis is possible with approval of the major advisor.

General Education and Graduation Requirements - B.S.


To graduate, students must complete a minimum of 120 units (27 units must be upper division), including the following General Education Requirements  (GE) and Graduation Requirements   not met within the major:
