Requirements for the Major in Spanish - 42-50 units


A minimum grade of C- will be required in all courses applied to the Spanish major.

Lower Division Requirements - 6-14 units


Students must complete one series (6 units) of second-year Spanish courses, either SPAN 201 and 202 or SPAN 211 and SPAN 212.

Students who enter the Spanish program with the equivalent of first-year, college-level Spanish in high school or a community college may have satisfied the SPAN 101 and SPAN 102 requirement. For more information, see the Spanish Program Faculty Advisor or the following webpages:

Heritage speakers are encouraged to enroll in SPAN 211 and SPAN 212.  Higher level speakers may begin at SPAN 301 or SPAN 302  with faculty advisor approval.
