History, Minor - 18 units

The minor in History affords non-majors the opportunity to investigate the historical complexities of societies and movements and their legacies in the present. Therefore the minor serves as a primer to the scholarly appreciation of the past.

Lower Division Requirements - 6 units

Students must complete two lower division History courses. They must complete at least one course from each area listed below:

World History - 3 units

HIST 211 - World Civilizations: Origins to 1500 Units: 3
HIST 212 - World Civilizations: Since 1500 Units: 3
Transfer courses of African, Asian, Latin American or Western Civilization may be substituted with History major advisor’s approval. Units: 3

American History - 3 units

HIST 270 - The United States To 1877 Units: 3
HIST 271 - The United States Since 1877 Units: 3
HIST 275 - The United States to 1900 Units: 3

Upper Division Requirements - 12 units

Methodology - 3 units

HIST 300 - The Historian’s Craft Units: 3

Upper Division North American, World, or Thematic History - 9 units

Students must complete any three courses from the program’s upper-division offerings in North American, World, or Thematic History.
