Lower Division Requirements - 9 units

Global Studies majors must take each of these courses:

• GEOG 201 - Culture and Historical Geography of the World Units: 3
• GLST 200 - Introduction to Global Studies Units: 3
• POLS 103 - Introduction to International Politics Units: 3

  Students may substitute equivalent courses taken at other universities in each area by articulation agreement or by permission of the Global Studies Program Chair/Advisor.

Upper Division Requirements - 24 units

Co-requisites - 1-19

1. Language Requirement – Students need to complete through the intermediate level (for example, through SPAN 202), a language other than English, or demonstrate equivalent proficiency as approved by the CI languages faculty.  ASL courses will not be accepted.

2. Study Abroad Requirement – Students must successfully complete a minimum of one international study abroad experience (e.g., UNIV 392 [1-3 units], a CSU International Program, or a study abroad program approved by a Global Studies faculty advisor).

Additional General Education and other Graduation Requirements - 68- 86 units

To graduate, students must complete 120 units minimum (40 units must be upper division) including all General Education  (GE) and Graduation Requirements  .  The following areas must be included:

• Additional lower division A-E GE requirements not met within major
• Nine units of Upper Division Interdisciplinary GE (UDIGE) courses, numbered 330-349 or 430-449. Six units may be within major, three units must be outside major (C or better grades)
• Multicultural Requirement (C or better grade)
• Language Requirement (C or better grade)
• American Institutions Requirement
• Free electives as needed to meet minimum units for graduation
