COMP 647 - Societal Impacts of Computing for Educators Units: 3 Three hours lecture per week Graduate-level course in an online format that addresses the Impacts of Computing requirement for a Specific Supplementary Authorization in Computer Science. Covers the social, ethical, and legal issues and impacts of computing, as well as the contributions of computer science to current and future innovations in the arts, business, humanities, medicine, and science. Surveys the role of the digital computer in modern society. Topics include the dangers of the misuse of computers, privacy, copyright, and computer crime. Has a substantial focus on writing.
