AFS 150 - Introduction to Ethnic Studies (Cross-listed as ETHS 150, CHS 150) Units: 3 Three hours lecture per week Offers an intellectual, interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, intersectional, and transdisciplinary examination of the field of Ethnic Studies. Students will be introduced to histories of structural and systemic oppressions, including but not limited to white supremacy, racism, settler colonialism, imperialism as well as the histories of resistance that characterize communities and movements led by Native American and Indigenous people, African Americans, Asian American and Pacific Islanders, and Chicano/a and Latino/a Americans. It will consider how these decolonizing and anti-racist movements have supported historically marginalized people to build solidarity and reimagine racial justice.
