ARTH 201 - Arts of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas

Three hours lecture per week
Explores the many reasons and motivations that people and societies create art across time and space. Surveys arts of Non-Western cultures with particular focus on Africa, Oceania, and the Americas. Studies artistic achievements from ancient through contemporary times. Also considers issues related to colonization and independence.
