SOC 392 - Political Sociology Units: 3 Three hours lecture per week Prerequisite(s): SOC 100 , SOC 201 , and SOC 202 (SOC 201 and/or SOC 202 may be taken concurrently) Examines power and power structures at all levels of society, from dominant competing theoretical perspectives (Pluralism versus Power Elite). Focuses on the role of political institutions (state and non-state) and of collectivities (social classes, ethnic groups, etc.), and political action (individual and collective) in shaping political processes, and examines social influences on political behavior (e.g., political protest, electoral engagement, civic engagement, etc.). Graded: Letter Grade
