ART 114 - Arts of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas Units: 3 Three hours lecture per week Explores the many reasons people and societies create art, and how their motivations are alike and different across time and space, by surveying arts of Non-Western cultures including those of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas. Studies artistic achievements from ancient through contemporary times. Also considers issues related to colonization and independence.
