Senate Resolution WHEREAS the current process for approving changes to the Bylaws of the Academic Senate requires the approval of the Academic Senate, yet that for approving changes to the Constitution of the Academic Senate does not; and
WHEREAS the revised documents will, if accepted, require Academic Senate approval for any future modifications to the Constitution as well as the Bylaws; and
WHEREAS the faculty at large must approve changes to each document before they can take effect; and
WHEREAS demonstrate support for such changes to the faculty at large; and
WHEREAS the integration of the Constitution and Bylaws is essential for efficient operations of the Academic Senate and of shared governance;
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the Academic Senate shall vote on these proposed changes to the Constitution; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the vote tally in favor of this Senate Resolution and the vote tally in favor of the changes to the Bylaws be communicated to the faculty at large as part of the information packet for final approval; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that if either this Senate Resolution or the changes to the Bylaws should fail to be approved by the Academic Senate, neither the Constitution nor the Bylaws will be presented to the faculty at large for approval until such time as both elements shall be approved by the Academic Senate.
