SP 24-10 Policy on Undergraduate Semester Honors

Purpose: This policy establishes criteria for recognizing outstanding academic achievement by including undergraduate students on the Dean’s List and President’s List.

Background: This policy modifies SP 03-19 Semester Honors to establish a two-tiered semester honors policy including a Dean’s List honor and a President’s List honor. This update aligns CSUCI’s semester honors with that of other universities in the nation thus eliminating confusion about the definition of semester honors for CSUCI students and graduates.

Policy:
The institution acknowledges the exemplary academic performance of undergraduate students by placing them on the Dean’s List or President’s List based on their Grade Point Average (GPA) during a semester for full-time students or academic year for part-time students.

Eligibility Criteria

Enrollment Status: Full-time CSUCI undergraduate students completing 12 or more units with a letter grade in a single semester or part-time CSUCI undergraduate students completing 12 or more units with a letter grade in one academic year assessed at the end of the Spring semester.

Dean’s List:

An undergraduate student who achieves a GPA of 3.5 or higher but less than 4.0 will be named to the Dean’s List.

President’s List:

An undergraduate student who achieves a GPA of 4.0 will be named to the President’s List.

Evaluation

Evaluation Process:

At the end of each semester, the Registrar’s Office will evaluate undergraduate students’ academic records to determine eligibility for the Dean’s List and President’s List.

GPAs will be calculated based on the grades posted at the end of the term.
