Commendation and Appreciation of the work of Founding Faculty Member
Dr. Joan Karp

WHEREAS, Dr. Joan Karp has guided and shaped our School of Education into a model for other CSUs; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Karp as the founding Director of the School of Education, worked with the faculty of the school to gain accreditation for the School and its programs for the maximum number of years possible; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Karp has worked tirelessly to create innovative programs of teacher education and graduate degrees in education; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Karp exemplifies what it means to be a good colleague with her incisive judgment, quick wit, kindness and intelligence for many faculty who came later, hers was the first face we associated with the campus as she prepared us for the interview that was to come;
Be it Resolved that we, the members of the CSUCI Academic Senate, express our thanks to Dr. Karp for her hard work, vision and heart at CI on behalf of the campus, its faculty and students, and
Be it Further Resolved, that the CSUCI Academic Senate wishes Dr. Karp many ‘travels with Charlie’ and a happy and full retirement.
