Purpose: Student ratings of teaching (SRT) serve as one metric of teaching effectiveness for periodic evaluations and performance reviews, as well as a source of information for faculty seeking to improve curriculum, teaching methods and achievement of learner outcomes.

Intent: To replace CSUCI Academic Senate Policy SP 02-02

 

Policy:
Scope and Frequency

Written student ratings of teaching shall be required of all instructors in a minimum of two courses every academic year, in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA Sections 15.15- 15.19). Individual departments or equivalent units may require SRT to be administered in more than one class, as permitted by the CBA.

Administration and Procedures

  • The SRT instrument shall be approved by the Academic Senate and administered by the Office of Faculty Affairs in accordance with the CBA, as well as by the procedures developed by Faculty Affairs pursuant to this policy.

  • Instructors shall not access the SRT results until after course grades have been assigned.

  • Instructors of team-taught courses shall receive separate SRT.
