Drafted By: Student Academic Policies and Procedures Committee 2011-2012: Stephen Clark, Chair; Beatrice de Oca, Tiina Itkonen, Nancy Mozingo, Nitika Parmar Purpose: The purpose of the proposed policy is to clarify the process for admission to master’s programs. The aim of the policy is to allow students to pursue second master’s degrees as appropriate, while at the same time ensuring the academic integrity of the second master’s degree as a unique course of study.
Applicability: All CSU Channel Islands graduate students
Policy: Students holding a master’s degree who wish to pursue an additional master’s degree must obtain prior approval in writing from the appropriate administrator and/or program chair. No more than six units used to satisfy the requirements of a completed master’s degree may be used to satisfy the requirements of any additional master’s degrees. The additional degree(s) should not be identical to prior degrees in terms of scope and objectives.
