Policy:
  1. To be considered an “interdisciplinary course” the syllabus must show that the course is an “integrative course with significant content, ideas, and ways of knowing from more than one discipline.” Courses numbered 330-349 will not have prerequisites. Courses numbered 430-449 may have prerequisites. 
  2. Nine units of required upper-division General Education must be selected from interdisciplinary courses (Courses numbered 330-349 and 430-449). A minimum of three semester units must be from a discipline outside the student’s major. Students should have junior standing to enroll in these courses. 
  3. Any course may be considered a GE lower division course if it has been requested by faculty, meets the category requirements, and has been approved by the GE Committee. 
  4. GE courses may double-count (fulfill major and GE requirements), if so allowed by the discipline.
  5. For academic year 2002-2003 only, each discipline may have as many as 10 lower division and 10 upper division General Education designated courses. 
  6. Title V requirements (6 units) exist outside the General Education Requirements.
