Purpose: To align the name of the Center with the new Carnegie Classifications. In our own strategic planning meetings (that included faculty, community representatives, and students) we debated the definitions of civic engagement, service learning, and experiential learning. We believe our discussion mirrors the broader one alluded to in the new Carnegie classification - that a new, broader term is needed to encompass the entire scope of our activities.

Policy:
Change the name for the Center on Civic Engagement and Service Learning to Center for Community Engagement.
