CHS 333 - History of Southern California Chicana/o Art (Cross-listed as ART 333, HIST 333) Units: 3 Three hours lecture per week Prerequisite: Junior Standing or Consent of Instructor An exploration of the Southern California Chicano/a culture focusing on the genesis, vitality and diversity represented in the painting, sculpture and artistic traditions of Mexican American artists. Historical movements, politics, cultural trends and Mexican folklore underlying the development of this dynamic style of art will be investigated within a variety of contexts.
