ANTH 414 - Waterworlds: Maritime Archaeology and Heritage

Recommended: Junior standing
Examines case studies as well as the methods, theories, and practices of Maritime Archaeology and heritage to identify landscapes and materials located in ‘Waterworld’ environments. Course topics include underwater and coastal environmental characteristics; the nature of submerged landscapes such as shipwrecks and ports; examination of navigation and maritime cultures; underwater research; governmental policies, coastal and maritime laws, preservation, and tourism.
